My Updated 2008 NFL Mock Draft: What picks do you like and what changes would you make?
If Atlanta doesn't draft Matt Ryan then they will be the same as last year, maybe worse... I think Oakland will take Dorsey. Ryan Clady is a better player than Jeff Otah. Detroit has more pressing needs at O-Line and especially D-Line... Vikings will take a DE and it will either be Harvey or Campbell. Houston needs to protect Schuab and their offense will be great. Gosder Cherilus is their man. Tampa won't take Phillips, corner and wideout are much more important so I think Malcolm Kelly maybe who they target bc his tall lanky frmae and long arms complement Galloway's speed... Washington has to fix their WR problem and help take Jason Campbell to the next level. They will take Desean Jackson.... Jonathon Stewart is a power back. Marion Barber is a power back. This pick wouldn't make sense. If Felix Jones isn't there they will grab a WR and a CB. In this case they take Mike Jenkins. Pittsburgh will take Brandon Albert. He is versatile and would be a potential steal this low... Limas Sweed is destined to reunite with Vince in Tennessee.... San Diego will solidfy their defense with Dan Connor to shore up their inside LB position. San Fransico will probably go a different route but I like this pick. The only other guy I can think of to go here is Jerrod Mayo... I think Green Bay will take Sam Baker and make Rodgers' transition that much easier... Kenny Phillips will go to the Giants.
Reply:I'd swap Gholston %26amp; McFadden, and Otah %26amp; Clady, and I don't think Jonathon Stewart will be taken in the first round. Other than that, I'd say it was alright.
Reply:New York Giants will not take Justin King.......
I doubt that both the Jets and Ravens will be lucky enough to get McFadden and Matt Ryan
Reply:Minnesota needs a DE more than a WR, after signing Berrian. Give them Merling.
Reply:it is your draft dont ask me
Reply:Top of the order is solid as any other mock out there. Although I just dont see The raider passing on Run DMC, Too much of a Peterson factor to pass on for al davis i think. Also I dont think Brandon Albert is going to fall to 26, He may be the 2nd linemen off the board After Long, as he is shooting up the draft charts. Also I dont think MInnesota is going to waste another first rounder on a Wideout, They could be in a prime spot to take someone like Brian Brohm, and Its way too high for Limas Sweed. But again noone can project what happens late in the draft but expect at least a trade or 2 late in the first rounds as at least 2 teams will trade back into the end of the first round to take Brian Brohm and JOe Flacco
Reply:I disagree with Rodgers-Cromartie at #11 to Buffalo. I think that is a little early from considering corner is one of the positions with solid depth. I also think Tampa goes WR with their first pick. They are pretty decent at safety with Jermaine Phillips and are also high on Sabby Piscitelli who was injured much of last year. Their wide receivers are aging and they need a wide receiver now. I think they look at DeSean Jackson or Limas Sweed (who I think Minnesota will pass on). My last comment would be on Philadelphia. My understanding is Philadelphia is very interested in Otah and Williams. Since you have them going before the Eagles pick (which is very likely) I think they would take Kenny Phillips as they need help at safety with Brian Dawkins aging. Overall, though you did a solid job.
Reply:The only objection i have with this draft is the fact that Tampa already has a couple of good young safties and they dont really need it... maybe a WR like Deshean Jackson. But all in all a good mock draft. The pick that made me smile...was the Rashard Mendenhall pick to the lions.. not alot of people have the lions taking a RB.. or at least not the ones i have seen.. and you have them taking the one back i thinik they would be interested most in this draft. I personaly think he is gonna end up being the best RB in this draft.
P.S- I'm not a Lion fan or an Illinois fan... my team doesnt have a pick in the first round and my college team...
